A further opportunity for American golfers to be humiliated could be coming soon. Golf is one of a few sports being considered for Olympic addition in 2012.

There is absolutely no reason that golf shouldn’t be an Olympic sport. It has worldwide appeal, big-time media interest, and would draw huge crowds. I guess it’s too late for 2008, but if it’s going to be added in 2012, it has to be in place of another sport. Of the 28 current summer Olympic sports, I probably wouldn’t notice if they cut about 20 of them. Get golf in the mix.

Also under consideration are rugby, squash, karate, and roller sports. I’d like to see Rugby get in, and also, without question, under the umbrella of roller sports… roller derby.

Roller derby could take the place of basketball as the sport that Americans perfected before anyone else even learned to play. We’ll be running the whip, having huge women knock the little girls over the rails… Our blockers and jammers will be messing people up. Gold is guaranteed.
