Not the best of times for current/former Redskin wide receivers. Rod Gardner wants out, Laveraneus Coles wants out, and Michael Westbrook has now taken the logical next step for a retired wide receiver… competitive cage fighting. Somewhere, Stephen Davis is not surprised.

On February 25th, Westbrook is scheduled to step inside the cage and get it on with another former NFL’er, Jarrod Bunch.

Westbrook, by the way, gives details of the incident with Stephen Davis that led to him beating him to a pulp:

“I was telling those guys they were jealous of me,” he said last week. “I said, ‘You come into my house and you go, ‘Wow.’ You see my car and you go, ‘Wow.’ Then every time I come into the locker room, you want to get quiet. I know everything you say about me.’ ”

Westbrook said Davis then came over, described what he was saying as nonsense preceded by a homosexual slur, “and then I punched him.”

So at least there was a good reason for the shattering of Stephen Davis’s face. He’ll have cash to motivate him to cave in Jarrod Bunch’s grill.

Best of luck to him in the world of cage fighting.
