Venus Williams whomped Maria Sharapova today, taking her down in straight sets and moving on to the Finals. Venus has regained her form, and is playing like old-school Venus… athleticism, power, and toughness abound. Maria wasn’t even close today.

I think it’s awesome to see Venus back in the groove. I always liked her better than Serena, though I couldn’t tell you why. Perhaps it’s because I physically fear Serena.

Her opponent in the Finals is not yet known. Lindsay Davenport and Amelie Mauresmo had their match suspended due to darkness. Lindsay leads 5-3 in the 3rd set, after they split the first two, both of them going to 7-6. They’ll finish tomorrow on Court 1, while the men are playing on Center Court.
