I didn’t actually see the end of the game, but numerous websites sites are discussing the tears of Adam Morrison and JJ Redick today. I saw Redick cry, and didn’t think much of it. I’m sure the last four years were very special to him… it came to an end unexpectedly… a lot of people would cry in that situation. Some guys will, some guys won’t. No big thing.
But Adam Morrison… you can’t cry when you still have a chance to win. It’s a 1-point game, and there’s 2.6 seconds left… that’s the time to fight. That is not the time to cry. I feel bad for the guy, as bad as I felt for Redick or anyone else. I’m sure he was hurting, so I don’t want to be too hard on him, but, you know… if I’m an NBA scout, and a guy I’m thinking of drafting out there crying on the court when there’s still even a sliver of a chance… his stock is slipping a little bit. That’s a pretty major thing. The time to cry is after the game.
I’ve never been a huge Morrison fan… it’s nothing against his game. He’s a fine player, obviously. But his emotions have always seemed borderline weird on the court. You don’t need to flex your muscles and scream and slap the ball every single time you get an and-one against Pepperdine in a January WCC game.
And there have been some comments from opposing players saying that Morrison’s the worst trash talker in the game… a San Diego player claims Morrison told him that if a train hit (the San Diego player) and he died, that he (Morrison) wouldn’t care. That’s not trash talk. That’s just… that’s someone who’s confused about trash talk.
And, I think it’s worth mentioning… The sight of a man who can’t grow a mustache, but has attempted to do so anyway, sobbing in tears… is not a pretty thing.

I agree with you as far as not crying down by 1 with 2.6 remaining. But as far as losing draft sports because of it, I wouldn’t care if I were a scout. They know there games in the NBA don’t matter, therefore they don’t have to worry about him getting too worked up at the end of games.

That was the best analyzation of Morrison I’ve seen so far. Good Job.

I’d cover my face in my jersey too if my team mismanaged the last three minutes of the game the way they did last night. Taking bad look shots with 15 seconds on the shot clock? That’s called panic, which is what they did shortly after Erroll Knight fouled out. They outplayed a floundering UCLA for 37 minutes, then apparently assumed it was in the bag and cashed out. No other explanation I can see for the turnovers and clock management retardation. Morrison may as well have been carrying a sign saying, “But, but, but.. it’s not fair!” when he started tearing up and pouting on the court, knowing that they fucking blew a sure win and their tournament hopes on some of the worst last-minute mistakes I’ve seen in a high level college game this year.
WVU cried when they lost, but you don’t see people ragging on them, because they did it with dignity, after playing to the 0:00 and losing to a fantastic Texas shot. There’s a difference.

I’ve totally changed my opinion of him as a player in the NBA. If you’re going to cry with time on the clock how can I expect you to take (and make) game winning shots for my franchise.
That moment was more revealing than however many points he dropped on Pepperdine in his college career.

mjd, want to point out that Morrison’s only a junior. not a big surprise that he’ll be going pro, but still, maybe a fucking terrible loss like that may make him give some, albeit very little, thought to returning to GU for a 4th year and shot at the final four.
oh, and he’s a little bitch.
Insomniac Says:

J.P. Batista is graduating this year. No way would Morrison think that he’s going to the Final Four without him in the post. Also, next year’s NBA draft is projected to be much stronger than this year’s, so Morrison’s stock would likely plummet if he stayed.
Oh, and he’s a little bitch.

Maybe young Adam should quit crying, take a lesson from the Larry the Cable Guy and work on his GED.

This is one WEAK motherfucking draft. People said the last two years’ were a little off, but that’s nothing compared to the mediocrity reeking from this year’s. It’s actually a bad thing to really suck now in the NBA, whereas before it was a bad thing to just be stuck in the middle. At least in the middle you can win 45 games a year, the bottom you suck AND you don’t get a good player in the draft.

Wow - your source for the “train” comment story is a fucking AOL diary? Fuck, yeah, MJD, you in the big blogs now.
Hate on the dude all you want, but you are a douche blogger for using that as a source. Joke.

Not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, burnplant, but here’s the Seattle Times article that provides the same info (was cited in the AOL diary).

Yeah, burnplant, there are these things on blogs called “links.” Sometimes you click the underlined text, sometimes you click the text that’s a different color from the rest of the text. If you are confused, try hovering your mouse over a suspicious passage, and then click the left mouse button (you can also click the right mouse button, but this is a two step process, so let’s try to simply master the basics).
So, burnplant, why don’t you try it? Go to the site MJD linked, look at the first paragraph (those are the things writers use to break up groups of sentences: if you have ever read a book, you may have noticed how the words will end before the end of a line. No, the writer isn’t being a douche novelist–he or she is merely starting a new paragraph). Sorry, still with me? Oh, back to that paragraph thingy. You may have noticed that some of the text is in blue while all the rest of it is in black? Very good. No, the writer is trying to be a douche blogger: he is merely doing one of those “links” we were talking about. Try this experiment: Hover your mouse over it and click and see what happens.
I hope this helped.

LOL. That’s hilarious. As for his emotions, he acts like a child on the court a lot. I wouldn’t call it “energy” so much as “crazy.”
Oh, and he needs to shave that pseudo-mustache. It looks GROSS. Like, 80s pornstar gross.

I didn’t realize there was so much dislike for Morrison. Why is it nobody likes white players? That’s a serious question too. If it’s a white player that can truly play, it seems like he gets hated on way too much. If we are going to do that, let’s please shift our focus back on Redick.

I like Redick… not a big fan of Morrison. Though I certainly don’t hate him or anything.
burnplant: Within the “AOL diary” was a link to a story in the Seattle Times. So can I be “in the big blogs” now?”
Insomniac Says:

Doug, you had the question backwards. You should be asking why the mainstream media underreports what an immature, a$$hole Brian Morrison is everytime he steps on a court. Is it because he’s white, and everyone wants a Great White Hope? Is it because he has diabetes and they’re afraid to rip on the guy because he’s dealing with that adversity? Or is it because most reporters are too lazy to actually watch a WCC game, and so all they see are his highlights on SportsCenter?

There’s alot of knocking on Morrison going on but the kid is a solid player who puts it all on the line. Like somebody said, they gave that game to UCLA by blowing a lead with 3 minutes. Horrible decision making. He was mentally drainined, most likely, and it got the best of him. It happens. I’ve never played in the NCAA Tourney and had to deal with the stresses of it so I wouldn’t know. I don’t think it hurts his draft status but I think it will help elevate his game. I think after losing a game like that he’s going to want to play even better to prevent that same feeling.

The kid is a great player and really gives everything he has. It’s a lot easier on a message board or as a blog writer.
