After Coach Larry said the other day that Nate Robinson was not only not a point guard, but he was “the farthest thing from a point guard,” today, it seems that Coach Larry wanted to send Nate down to the D-League.
This should not come as a surprise to anyone, particularly Isiah Thomas. Robinson is a point guard (for lack of a better word) who looks for his own shot. That doesn’t work with Larry Brown. Ask Stephon Marbury.
Robinson’s also had some behavioral issues, coming close to blows with both Jerome James (which should probably be considered a positive reflection on Nate Robinson) and Malik Rose. He was reportedly ready to go after Jerome James with a broom handle.
And then later, Robinson was reprimanded by Larry Brown for shooting spitballs on the team bus. Spitballs. Adults… shooting spitballs. I don’t think sending him to the D-League is the right thing… maybe 3rd grade would be a little more appropriate. I’m not saying that there’s no place for being childish and juvenile if you feel like it… but shooting spitballs? I think we have to draw the line at shooting spitballs.

I would let that pass, but if he decides to throw wet toilet paper on the bathroom ceiling, then we’ve got a serious problem.

The Big Picutre
so in some rare reporting i’ve done at UW, i’ve had the pleasure of talking with Nate.
He is certainly childish…it’s just his personality. when i was interviewing him, he was curious if i wanted some popcorn. I respectfully declined and asked how old he was. he didn’t like that comment.
what concerns me more about nate (who i love as a UW student) is that he HAS a child. perhaps the child is more mature than pops is.
but as far as the knicks go, he’s the best thing going for them. larry brown has lost all respect and isiah thomas…well, that’s just a given.

Forget the spitballs he should give “Starbury” a noogie. (after insuring his(stefanies) head is not inserted you know where).

Know Good
A microcosm of what’s wrong with the NBA: it is encouraged that players perform without emotion. Larry Brown is deriding Robinson for simply caring. WTF??? Look at your wack-ass team, Larry. You need someone who enjoys playing. This is supposed to be basketball, a fun game. I understand the stakes involved at the professional level, because of dollars, but if you take the fun out of sport, what would we have? Oh yeah, we do have it: the National Basketball Association.
