I know retirement is not an easy decision, but… how fucking long does it take? I know he doesn’t want to go through another sucky season, and he wants to see what the Packers are going to do, but… what’s he expecting? Does he think the Steelers are going to call out of the blue and offer to swap rosters with the Packers? What their roster looks like now is a lot what it will look like when Week 1 rolls around.
And a lot of Packers fans are bent that he said he only wanted to play for a winning team. I don’t begrudge him that… I mean, hey, everyone wants to play for a winning team. When you’re as old as Favre and have accomplished as much, I don’t think that’s out of line. What does seem out of line, though, is how long this is taking. Get off the fucking tractor, sit down with Mary and Warren, and figure it out. You either want to play or you don’t. The Packers are not going to turn into a Super Bowl contender overnight, and I’m sure Warren wants to know who’s going to be playing catch with him this fall.

Don’t you think at least part of the reason why everyone’s making a big deal out of this is ESPN’s ridiculous coverage? They honestly report on every little excruciating detail of the whole thing that it’s always in everyone’s mind. John Elway retired on May 2, 1999. That’s almost a month from now. Did anyone make a big stink about Elway taking too long to decide? No. Why? Because no one made a story out of his retirement UNTIL IT HAPPENED.
Let Favre make up his mind in peace.
PS I fucking hate ESPN.

Seriously, Brett’s acting like an attention starved asshole by waiting as long as he has. By not coming out and making a clear decision one way or the other, he’s hurting the team, which is a dick move no matter how many great years he’s given them. I get that it’s a tough thing to decide but come on. Of course hardly anyone will come out and say any of this (Much like they refuse to point out his increasingly poor decsion making on the field. When Joey Harrington throwns an interception he sucks, when Brett does it he’s a “gutsy gunslinger who loves to take chances”) because by God he’s Brett Favre, which for most football writers is about one step down from the Lord Jesus Christ himself.

Theri Maa Bhanchod!
Favre is a massive douche. he called out Javon Walker last yr for holding out and now it’s fine and dandy for him to take his sweet time. Then he has the gall to say “what are they going to do, cut me?”. F’ing prick. He f’d up their season last yr throwing 29 picks but the dickbag announcers never say one negative about him and other media idiots follow along for whatever reason.

I don’t even think this is that big a deal. But I hate Favre so much, and think he’s gotten a free ride for all sorts of other things (like how many games he cost the Packers last season with crazy INTs in the end zone, or the universal agreement not to speak “Favre” and “Vicodin” in the same sentence on the air) that I’m just happy to see him ripped for something.

Brett Favres Puke
Hey, it’s me, brett’s puke. i have a lot in me today…last night brett picked some MORE vicodin out of me. not fun. guys depressed, i tell ya. But im glad to be out of that narcisstic douche bag. I couldnt take any more ‘that CRAZY and wild throw was amazing! even though it was in triple coverage!’

If the Packers management would grow a pair and trade him like he wants we could get on with the rebuilding. And Brett can throw dumb passes for someone else.

You’re all idiots. Probably jealous fans of other teams who wish they at some point had a QB like Favre. He’ll make his decision when he’s good and ready. Until then, sit down, shut up, and go masturbate to some Michael Vick/other overrrated QB you like videos.

I agree he need to shit or get off the pot on this. we all know he has made up his mind already one way or the other, he is just riding this out for the publicity. I also was offended by the what are they gonna do cut me? comment. I liked Favre for most of the last 8 years, but the thing was he was a good player and it seemed humble. a comment like that is telling to a persons character and that did not sit well with me.

Now that Favre is scheduling press conferences to tell the media that he hasn’t decided yet, I think it’s pretty clear just who is manipulating this story. Hard to blame the media for covering it, when Favre keeps inviting the media to cover it.
I am a bit surprised by the online criticism of Favre. It’s probably well-deserved backlash from most of us who are sick of Madden and Theismann and the rest treating him as a holy man.

Favre was a great quarterback from 1992-2004, but let’s keep his legacy in perspective. He has won as many Super Bowls as Trent Dilfer, Mark Rypien, and Doug Williams. I consider him a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer, but he has not lived up to the “S” that the media have adorned his chest with these last few years. He has not thrown fewer than 15 interceptions since the year he won a Super Bowl. In his waning years, his bad passing judgement has begun to take it’s toll. It’s like watching Namath in those three years prior to his demise as an L.A. Ram. We will always remember the great moments, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be critical of recent lackluster performance.

Someone using the phrase “go masturbate to the videos of some overrated quarterback like Vick” (and I agree that Vick is badly overrated) while attempting to defend the current play of Brett Favre is hilarious. No one is denying that Brett was once a fantastic football player and a sure-fire Hall of Famer. People are annoyed by the fact that the media continues to treat him like he’s the greatest quarterback in football despite his increasingly poor play. He throws a ton of interceptions because he keeps lobbing the ball into triple coverage for no apparent reason, and all the annoucers can do is laugh and talk about what a risk-taker he is and how awesome that is. Him milking his potential retirement for all it’s worth the last few years isn’t helping anyone’s opinion either.

The Everyday Joe » This Favre Thing Smells
[...] Word got out Friday that Brett Favre would possibly be making an announcement about the “Are you retiring?” question he’s been getting this off-season. My take was much the same as the Mighty MJD’s. And that was — dude, just figure it out! [...]

I really didn’t have strong feelings either way until Brett called a press conference to announce that he hadn’t made up his mind.
He has been a great player for many years. But if he is that undecided, then that should be his decision. He’s not mentally prepared to compete, so he should retire.

Whew, lots of vitriole. I think he should retire, mainly because I couldn’t cope with the #4 retirement tour. You know, a rocking chair from the Lions, a harley from the Bears, a yacht from the Vikings! (u knew where I was headed didn’t yee?)

Brett Favre Should Stick With Golf
The AP has more today on the undecided Brett Favre. Brett insists that he hasn’t made up his mind about returning for another season, and he will let the Packers know once he has….There’s only one sport Brett Favre

I really think Brett’s a coward. And most cowards I know, screw small animals and pick their noses…and, uh, pretty much quit Pro football and play golf.

HE DIDN’T CALL A PRESS CONFERENCE TO ANNOUNCE HE HADN’T DECIDED. The press conference was for his celebrity golf tournament, he holds that PC every year at the same damn time. The media decided he would announce his decision.
