I think anyone with a mustache like that is hiding something. Both Keith and Hootie claim to like girls, but neither one of them really thinks they belong in places were men do serious business: golf courses and dugouts.

During a Mets/Padres game Saturday night, Keith Hernandez went nuts when he saw a woman in the Padres dugout congratulate Mike Piazza after he hit a home run. Quoth Keith:

“Who is the girl in the dugout, with the long hair?. What’s going on here? You have got to be kidding me. Only player personnel in the dugout.”

No, Keith, no one’s kidding you. That was Kelly Calabrese, the Padres massage therapist. She has, and I know this is weird, a female reproductive system. That doesn’t mean she isn’t smart enough to hang out with the intellectual men that can be found in the dugout. She can actually provide a valuable service to the world. But Hernandez wasn’t done:

“I won’t say that women belong in the kitchen, but they don’t belong in the dugout.”

Oh, good. That’s very progressive of you to allow them out of the kitchen. Righteous. Women’s lib, man.

Anyway, I don’t want to make too big a deal about this… I’m not saying he should be fired or anything that drastic. I do think, however, that he should be regarded as kind of an ignorant asshole, and thus, I encourage you to join me in regarding Keith Hernandez as kind of an ignorant asshole.

  • keith will probably forget what it feels like to fuck his wife after about 6 months, but perhaps he’ll let us know when he forgets what his dick looks like.

  • I wonder if Keith Hernandez knew that those “Just For Men” commercials he did were for a hair coloring product or if he thought he was serving as the spokesman for a new social campaign?

  • hkuszak

Wasn’t Keith the one who spit on Kramer and Newman?

  • Oooohhhh! RE-JECTED!

“I won’t say that women belong in the kitchen… but you know, a sammich would taste pretty good about now.”

Ah, yes, this is refreshing commentary coming from a web-site that is sponsored by Anna Kournikova’s ass.

  • I could never hate him…He’s Keith Hernandez

Keith probably wasn’t thinking this, but I think it’s worth saying. “Gender equity” (a p.c. buzzword the Padres management rolled out in defense of this woman’s hiring) is NOT something that women should be striving for in absolutely every arena of life.

If we believe that men and women are fundamentally different, not just physically, but emotionally and psychologically, then there are places that we should not be encouraging them to go. The front lines of combat come to mind. Now, I won’t argue outright for keeping them out of a baseball dugout, but I can see someone’s point if he didn’t want his daughter’s or wife’s primary workplace to be in close quarters with people as personable as Milton Bradley, Kirby Puckett, Albert Belle, Carlos Zambrano, or Barry Bonds, however polite they may be to her. Dugout massage therapist– sounds like the sort of job that, if occupied by more women, is a lawsuit waiting to happen. That’s my take on it, anyway….

    hkusak,

No, there’s was a second spitter, hiding in the bushes. Unless it was a “magic loogie”.

    thetaphile,

If someone does not want their daughter or wife to be working around those people, they can get over it and let their daughter or wife work wherever she wants. And if any of those characters have a problem working around a woman, then they’re the ones with a problem that needs to be addressed. It’s not the massage therapist’s problem.

Ok, Keith Hernandez is an ass. But I have an issue with what you say about Hootie Johnson. He has nothing against women, they just want a men’s clug. What the hell is wrong with that? My mother is in a University of Women’s club. There are all sorts of organizations for women, specific religions, creeds etc. What is possibly wrong with having an PRIVATE club that is for men. It is not paid for with public money, so leave them alone.

Now the Masters deserved to be roasted for their lack of black members. But as far as women are concerned, there is nothing wrong with that.

  • I got no problem with the guys having a club called hair club for men that I could choose to avoid. Or not.

But.. I’m interested in Ron’s comment:”Now the Masters deserved to be roasted for their Black members. But as far as women are concerned there’s nothing wrong with it.”

Just curious….Do you think Women should be excluded because they’re not the same species as Men….. Who happen to be Black?
    What if they’re……… Black Women?

    Now is that another category???

&….. why is a major league dugout equal to a “private club?”Kinda seems like a “public” workplace to me.C’mon… We’re not even talking the locker room here!

Or is what this is really about that you’d like to see the MLB dugout as a sports man-cave retreat?

Feel free to elaborate ‘cuz’ I’m curious.

  • (Although if you’re talking about a TOTALLY PRIVATE club & not a MLB dugout):

&…hadn’t noticed the pics of Anna, came on this site to blog about Maggie Dixon because I saw it in the google search for her.
Don’t really care if any of you are sexist or not.Small potatoes after Laker fans flaming my site(s).
