#1 vs. #2, rivalry game, BCS Championship Game, blah blah blah… but when Calvin starts peeing on something, then you know it means something.

Here’s what I don’t want to happen on Saturday. I don’t want a well-played, close game that comes down to the wire. Most people say now that they don’t want a rematch in the BCS Championship Game (Christ, I hate typing that), but if this one’s an instant classic, Brent Musburger and everyone else will be leading the cheers for them to do it again in Arizona.

I would hate, a couple months from now, for everyone to just accept that this Saturday’s game was meaningless, and if there’s a rematch, then that’s certainly what it was. Whoever loses… hey, you had your chance. I’d even rather see Notre Dame in there than a rematch. And if there were to be a rematch of this game, while Rutgers was still undefeated… well, that would be the ultimate middle finger to every college football program in the country that doesn’t have a reputation as a powerhouse.

One of you two teams, please, win by 40. Run up the score if you get the chance. See if you can sneak Braylon Edwards out there in Steve Breaston’s uniform, and do the same with Tom Brady in Chad Henne’s uniform. Eliminate any chance that a rematch could happen.

  • for the sake of my saturday revolving around watching football, i want a competitive game.

but as long as ohio state wins, i’d be surprised to see Mich end up in the title game. a lot of things would have to break the right way.

    Bleh.
I hate both of these teams. Is there still some time left for all the players on both teams to be suspended and the result is a 0-0 tie? No wait..that would mean they are still undefeateds and the BCS would just have them play again. College football sucks.
Except the U of Hawaii. Go Bows! Er..Warriors!

  • For all the fear over it, a rematch between OSU and UM in the National Title game won’t happen. Not to say that it would be an entirely bad thing. If it did happen, perhaps the BCS would FINALLY implode the way it should.

But it’s all a moot point, I think, if USC beats Cal this weekend. In that case, the winner of the OSU-UM game this weekend will be the one national finalist, and the winner of the USC-ND game (again, IF USC beats Cal) will be the other.

I’m not enthusiastic about USC or ND being in the title game, particularly because USC losing to Oregon State and ND getting their ass handed to them by Michigan (and the prospect of it happening AGAIN).

So, once more, I call for the BCS to be scrapped. This is a bit ridiculous.

  • I might put some money on this game so that will dictate which team I want to lay the ass whooping.

But I do not want to see the rematch of these two teams in January.

I’m pulling for a few scenarios that will force the BCS to change their ranking systems for the 7th time in 7 years:

    1. Michigan wins and ND beats USC – Michigan and ND get to play for the national title after UM beat them by 26 in their own stadium.
    2. Michigan, USC and Rutgers win out with USC beating Michigan for the national title while Rutgers and Boise St finishing as the only undefeated teams in football.
    3. Arkansas beats Florida, Cal beats USC, USC beats ND, Nebraska beats Texas, Louisville beats Rutgers and the OhioSt/Michigan winner gets Wake Forest in the national championships.

I don’t care about either team, but those illegal “Calvin peeing on things” stickers annoy me to no end, so I’m going to root for Michigan.
