Not to be a douche, but the owners knew he’d never be able to stud. Too much weight on the bad leg. And in thoroughbred racing there must be a “live cover.” Meaning that there are no test-tube ponies. Helps keep the stud fees up.

Did anyone else see that Real Sports piece about Stormcat, the horse with the world’s highest stud fee? I think he’s the grandson or son of Secretariat. Anyway, it’s $500,000 plus tax for a successful impregnation. That horse is a license to print money.
